Affinity groups are generally businesses or individuals with similar needs and requirements that join together directly or indirectly to buy insurance products.   In recent months several examples of targeting affinity groups have become evident in the Brazilian insurance industry. We anticipate that insurers are going to leverage this type of arrangement increasingly.

Examples of the use of affinity groups of interest to insurers include;

• Associations & clubs
• Employers
• Industry-related affinity groups, where groups of companies in an industry (or public body) join together to buy insurance
• Retailers and credit card companies
